Consumer Behaviour: Understanding the Canadian Shopper
As a retailer, you need to know as much as possible about consumer behaviour in order to build the most effective marketing and merchandising strategies, but how much do you really know about the basics of the Canadian shopper?
We came across these great infographics recently from Strategy which discuss just those basics and we just had to share.
According to the research which informed the graphics, Canadian consumer behaviour differs region to region. For example, most Ontarians choose to complete their shopping on Saturdays, whereas Quebeckers head out on Fridays.
What about how often they shop? Some visits (12%) are for the major shop of the week on the shopper’s day of choice, whereas 30% represent those ‘fill-in-the-gap’ trips done throughout the week.
What about their emotions? We know that making an emotional connection is important – but what about drawing on their moods when they are actually strolling down the aisles filling their carts? Those too are essential – and can make a big difference when it comes to catching their attention. Here are some great insights into how your shoppers are feeling.
Knowing the most you possibly can about consumer behaviour allows you to build the most effective strategy to meet everyone’s needs. This data is important, so take advantage.
